Reaching Rijeka and getting around

For general information, check the page of the Rijeka tourist board visitrijeka.hr/en/.

You can reach Rijeka by the following means:

Plane:

  • Rijeka International Airport (RJK, rijeka-airport.hr) is rather small, but there are more frequent flights during the tourist season.
Since Rijeka is a popular tourist destination, check regular as well as charter airlines for flights.
  • Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport (ZAG, www.zagreb-airport.hr/en) offers more options and destinations.
There is a shuttle service directly from the Zagreb airport to Rijeka city centre, leaving every day at 15:30. For more information and ticket purchase see (plesoprijevoz.hr/en).
Regular intercity bus lines are available from the Zagreb bus station to Rijeka. You can reach the Zagreb bus station by the airport shuttle leaving every 30 minutes. Find out more on the webpage of the Zagreb bus station (www.akz.hr/en) or Arriva bus company (www.arriva.com.hr/en-us/home).
Private shuttle buses (from Zagreb or anywhere in Croatia) can be requested (plesoprijevoz.hr/en/transfers) by filling in a contact form and contacting the company directly to ask for an offer. The price depends on location and destination. Another company offering the exact same service can be found and contacted (www.goopti.com/en/).
Sharing a car or taxi is another option to reach Rijeka from Zagreb airport (travel time approx. 1hr 45min). Taxis are affordable and safe to take.
  • Trieste Airport Ronchi dei Legionari (triesteairport.it/en/). Check here for getting to and from the airport: triesteairport.it/en/autobus/
